Brief info
Silvia has served as executive director of the Saint John Family Resource Centre since 1997, working to ensure the safe and stable operation of the centre, and provide parents and caregivers of children from prenatal to age six with caring, and judgment-free support. Her personal mission, as well as the centre's, is to strengthen families and build a brighter future for generations to come.
A background in business, community development, and social work, Silvia leads strategic initiatives that ensure that parents of young children have free access to best practice-informed early childhood and parenting programs, as well as a host of other services. She collaborates with like-minded community partners to advocate for critical key policy changes at the local and provincial level with a goal of improving supports for families in the social, early education and health sectors.
Silvia has previously held roles with Epilepsy New Brunswick, the Canadian Mental Health Association and the Canadian Cancer Society. She holds a business degree from the University of New Brunswick Saint John, a Diploma in Business Administration - Marketing from New Brunswick Community College, and Certificates in Counselling and Community Development.
Silvia was recently honoured at the 2026 Night of Influence Awards, which recognize women who are doing real work, creating real impact, and showing up in ways that matter - every single day. She received two awards: one for Community Impact - Grassroots & Direct Impact; as well as the Lighthouse Leader Award, given to a leader who stands steady, creates clarity, and helps others find their way - no matter the conditions.
Silvia is an animal welfare advocate and provides rehabilitative care to rescued pets and horses at her farm, in addition to enjoying vegetable and herb gardening.
